I changed CMOS battery in Thinkpad 1400. Now I only get the IBM logo and a key sign.?

I tried to use the original IBM CDs to install BIOS, but nothing happened. Do you know how to fix the problem. Thanks.|||hello again!

i answered the other question on how to change the battery, and thanks for the best answer!

now, on the BIOS, what mine does to get in is press F1 right after you turn it on.

somtimes it will say %26quot;keyboard key stuck%26quot; or somthing like that, but, ignore it and press F1 over and over and over again fast and it sould start BIOS.

thats how mine works.

if the BIOS battery was in the same place as mine then the BIOS utillity sould do the same to.

and, for mine, i do not need the CD%26#039;s, i reformatted mine a few times and for mine, the BIOS program is not on the hard drive.

i know, about those Compaq laptops, Compaq%26#039;s BIOS is on the hard drive, and there%26#039;s are a nightmare to into.

but, F1 sould do it, just press it non-stop right after you slide the power button, and then start pressing away.

hope this helps|||i dont know alot about replacing the CMOS, but is it possible that you used the wrong type of battery or put it in the wrong way and therefore is not recognizing anything? try clearing the cmos by shorting the two prongs near it, this will clear the CMOS, and maybe allow you to install your bios again... good luck
