Cmos checksum error-default loaded?

I change the battery on my desktop computer - then went i turn on the computer i got the message ( cmos checksum error - default loaded. This is where it stops and thats it. can anyone help me on how to get my computer running again%26gt; would appreciate it very much. thanks|||You may have to go into System Setup (F2 or Delete usually) to configure your BIOS again. Or it%26#039;s shot, but hopefully the former.|||Okay: From what you say, you%26#039;ve changed the battery and knackered the eprom. I%26#039;m sorry but the only route will be to change the Eprom. The Eprom will be fairly close to that battery and will have a label on with amongst other things the check-sum. This device has gone to that place in the sky. I%26#039;m sorry but its going to be difficult to replace. Look at the label on the device and glean as much as possible. i.e. Chip-set type and the like. It doesn%26#039;t have to have the same check sum, but it has to be the same or very similar chip set......best of luck....ps, that device was/is bespoke to your pc.

Try to run the pc without the battery.......you did%26#039;nt put the battery in the wrong way around did you....did you............
