I have just replaced the motherboard/CMOS battery on my PC motherboard. This is because the system could not boot properly earlier.
After the battery was changed, the problem was resolved. The PC can now boot properly. However, a new problem has arisen.
When I boot the PC, it was boot for a while before flashing this message: %26quot;Signal frequency is out of range. Please change signal timing. H - 35.5 KHz. V - 82.0 Hz.%26quot;
Then it will continue to boot properly.
May I know what this message mean and how do I correct this problem?
Thanks.What does this message mean?Hi
This message had been shown your display monitor not support Frequency Higher than numbers that show .
How you can resolve this problem?
You most press F8 while booting before going to OS (MS windows) and select %26quot;VGA Mode%26quot; after choose your windows set the monitor frequency to lowest as possible as .
Good luckWhat does this message mean?the signal is out of reach..What does this message mean? Its not a problem if you hava your computer and monitor working (have a picture). It some video card/monitor incompatibility about working frequencies, but don't worry if its workinghi if it starts to load up try going into safe mode and doing a system restore back to before you put the new battery in it if that dont work try clearing the cmos the a jumper stteing on the board locate it turn your comp of put a jumper plug over it for a few secs take it off and turn your computer back on it will say clear cmos nest to it 2 little pins other than that ive not seen that before and have dealt with hundreds of computers hope this helps its should tho hopefullyfirst thing im wondering is this a seperate video card or on board video, anyway if you changed the battery, did you use the clear cmos jumper
i would do that then put jumper back in normal reboot, go right into cmos/bios and set safe settings (will say something similar) then save and exit and on boot hopefully all will be ok.
The message is reffering to horizontal and vertical sync in hertz. Yes this is important for the health of video card, monitor and motherboard.
If the cmos thing doesnt work, you'll need to look into those parts i just mentioned. It's to do with your graphics card. Try changing the settings, or reloading it's drivers,

Please need urgent help... i need to reset the BIOS settings.?
My computer has a motherboard. which support Pentium 3. I accidentally change a setting in BIOS call shadow setting or something like that.. after that the monitor goes standby and can work and the keyboard also not working.. I need to know how I can change the BIOS settings back to previous. Is there any command to make the monitor work again so I can change settings back.. I even remove the CMOS battery will it change the BIOS settings. Tell me a way to change the BIOS to previous settings. Please need urgent help... i need to reset the BIOS settings.?There are a few ways:
One is to remove the battery from the motherboard. It looks like a watch battery. Be very careful when doing this because most batteries are secured by a very weak clip, i've broken two of them in the past. Keep the battery out for approximately 15-20 seconds, put it back in, and the settings will be factory. You *have* to keep it out a certain amount of seconds minimum, or it won't reset.
Two, is to use the BIOS reset switch. There's one on every motherboard, and you should refer to online specifications or documents you received with the computer for info on yours. The physical documentation may be stuck to the bottom of the computer tower.
Three, you may have an option within BIOS/CMOS itself. Look around the setup for %26quot;Restore to factory defaults%26quot; or something similar. Please need urgent help... i need to reset the BIOS settings.?get out the battery from ur bios and put it again and it will reset it agian
lol i am not sure but i think thatPlease need urgent help... i need to reset the BIOS settings.?the reset will be located on the motherboard, not sure what mobo you have but they have two ways, check your user manual for the mobo and located the cmos reset, not something easy to findOk wen your computer starts up in the beginging beginging beginging beginging beginging. Press ether F1 or delete, depending on your computer..there should be a setting in BIOS to %26quot;reset to default%26quot; settings. try that and then %26quot;STOP PLAYING WITH THE BIOS%26quot;Take of your compuer's cover on the left side and look for the battery on mother board. Just take it off and put back on. Then you will be ready to go and be sure - no harm will be done! There's a jumper on most motherboards with which you can reset the BIOS. You need to get the motherboard documentation (either your paper copy or off the Internet). You will then put a jumper (a plastic box about 4mm x 2mm x 1mm with two holes in one of the small sides) over two pins (copper, about 4mm long, usually 6 or 8 will be lined up in pairs). Because the location of the pins and which ones to jump will vary, you really need the documentation. If you can't find it, then I'd try removing the battery. Is your CMOS battery removable? Some are soldered onto the board! If it is removable make sure you unplug the power to the PC and wait for all the system board lights to go off. be care-full STATIC electricity can ruin the motherboard! touch something metal prior to sticking your hands on the motherboard. F2 is usually the key to press to enter the BIOS...you must press the key before the machine posts! watch your keyboard when you turn your computer on....as soon as the lights flash on your keyboard (caps light, scroll lock, num lock led's)...keep hitting the F2 key...once in the BIOS there should be a default setting.IF u remove the CMOS BATTERY u will KILL YOURSELF!!

Computer problem......?
Hello i have a problem, i asked a question earlier and 1 of the answers was %26quot;The first thing I would do is reset the cmos. If that dont work then change out the cmos battery and reseat all the cards%26quot; how do i do theese things? couse the problem is when i turn on my computer i just get a black screen, my computer doesn't even start POST, so is there a way to do theese things without having to enter the computer and please tell me exacly or well how to do this becouse im only 13 years old and i don't know much about computers. So could you explain to me how to do theese things, thank youComputer problem......?open the case cover
1. locate the cmos battery it only thing which has a shining surface you can find it by looking the mother board manual / or it is mostly found near pci slots where speaker power button connector is found.
2. remove the battery and start the computer.
3. if computer starts / put new battery after switch off the computer.
4. if your computer not start after these sujjestion
5 then change the battery orientation for 2 minutes and after 2 min remove it and put in original position restart the computer
good luckComputer problem......?If your computer dosen't post there is something worse off than just the cmos battery!
First things first -
1- is there power? Is the cup fan running? If not I would suspect a bad power supply.
2- Are there any beep codes? Is it making any noise. Like a long steady beep is a memory problem.
3- Is there a bios screen? Can you bring up a bios screen?
4- check the video card and the monitor cable. Reseat the cards in the computer by pushing gently on them to make sure they are seated properly.
If there is no bios screen and no beep codes and the cup is running then I think you computer is toast! Get a new board or take your computer to someone who has a clue of what to do without asking strangers!
I hope this helps. This is quite an advanced troubleshooting problem for a novice, get some real help!Computer problem......?you need to find someone that can help you there, this is not something you can talk your way though. To reset the cmos you would have to open up your pc and locate a small round battery about the size of a coin on the big chipboard inside. Pull it out for about a minute then put it back in.

CMOS error cannot save?
Everytime I open my PC there is an error message like this:
Warning! CPU has been changed
Please re-enter CPU settings in the CMOS setup and remember to save before quit.
Pres F1 to continue, DEL to enter SETUP.
I pressed DEL and saved settings of BIOS but same thing happen again. I then pres F1, I noticed that the date goes back to Nov 12, 2003.
I thought that my battery is dead. I changed it with a new one and save the setting again.
When I changed the battery, all the settings that i saved in BIOS were saved such as present dates, fan settings, etc.
But the problem is, even I changed the battery, everytime I start the PC this error come back again.

Please re-enter CPU settings in the CMOS setup and remeber to save before quit.
Pres F1 to continue, DEL to enter SETUP.

Anyone knows how to fix this problem?
ThanksCMOS error cannot save? There might be something wrong with the settings in CMOS. Try checking it one by one and see if there are things that needs to be changed then save it.
These should stick if all is well.
Hope this helps
Cheers!CMOS error cannot save?K..try to do this clean..unplug the computer power cord... remove the batt... reset the cmos with the jumper..leave it in place for a few minutes. put the jumper back to it's default position. restart the computer, and go into setup and set the date, etc the way you want it. save the changes and exit. reboot. See if you still get the same error. If so, you may need to flash your bios.
Another possibility is that you are actually setting saomething in the cmos wrong, and the computer loads defaults.CMOS error cannot save?Couldn't be possible that you are %26quot;hacked%26quot; and %26quot;bugged%26quot; that you are forced to change your CPU??? It's popular nowadays... Or request an expert technician to help.Im not sure about this...but try this. Enter into the CMOS setup and try to update time and save the time settings there.

Full Description:
Computer Name:
Compaq Presario 5000
Specs
800mhz CPU
32MB Memory
8MB VideoMemory
20GB HDD
When i start computer, heres what happens.
1. Power LED goes On
2. HDD LED goes On
3. Cannot hear Hard Drive Spinning
4. Monitor Detects a Connection as soon as I plug the Monitor to the Computer
5. No signal goes to Monitor, Monitor remains in standby/off state.
6. No Beeps
7. CPU Fan Turns
Attempts:
1. Replaced Monitor
No change
2. Removed cmos Battery for 10 minutes, and put back in
No Change
3. Replaced Extremely old Nvidia AGP videocard with a somewhat old Radeon 9550 AGP videocard
No Change
4. Removed Memory
No Change (not even a warning Beep)
5. Opening CD/DVD Tray
Does not open (Light doesn%26#039;t go on)
Whats the cause of this problem?
And How do I fix it?|||It sounds like it%26#039;s your motherboard. Try to get into your bios when you boot up. If it won%26#039;t get that far it%26#039;s probably the mobo. You usually don%26#039;t need the hard drive, optical drives, floppy, or ram to get to the bios.
With how old your computer is it will probably be cheapest just to buy a new machine. If the new machine has IDE connections you can probably get info off your old HD; if not you can get one of those external IDE HD to USB adapters (cage?) and connect it.|||Hard drive has failed. Replace hard drive. |||Looks like to me the problem is on the hard drive...try to replace another hard drive.|||Sounds like a bad motherboard, processor, or power supply. Most likely motherboard since there are no beeps on start up. Try switching out the power supply first. You could buy the cheapest pc out there and it would be better than what you currently have.
If it is the motherboard, just buy a new computer. |||Maybe, your computer chip has burned out, but you should make sure that is the problem. My reason is because computer chips are expensive.

Pc clock resetting problem!!?
um, well... my pc clock has been resetting from the time i bought the mobo, which is may 6 of 2006! its been like that for about 2 weeks now... i think its the cmos battery... isnt it? how do i change it? how much is it? is it really that complicated to change a battery? what would happen if i didnt do it right? .... dont rant pls, i just need your answers...thanks!|||look for a battery, approx an inch in diameter, on the motherboard. Use a small screw driver to take out and then bin it after you have made a note of the number on it, eg cr2032.
A nnew onewill cost a couple of quid.
Dont bin it until you have your replacement on to hand.
On the first reboot it will still sulk but once you have set the time it will be happy until the battery dies again.|||Best thing to do is to pop the CMOS battery out and take it to a computer shop so you buy an exact replacement. It should be relatively easy to remove and there is a tab directly next to the battery that can be pressed with a flat head screwdriver.
Make sure you ground yourself on the case or other metal so you don%26#039;t touch the motherboard and kill it with static.

How do I replace CMOS batteries?
When my laptop starts up it beeps and the screen says cmos batteries Does anyone know where they are at and how to change them? I have an IBM thinkpad i series.|||Call up IBM they will replace it for free for you...
If not in warranty period, look for where your cmos battery is located for your model on the net...its most probably located some where near the motherboard, open up the place where it is, you can get a new one for couple of bucks at Radioshack, its is like a button cell...you can replace it at home itself..that will save you lots of time and money..|||You will have to look it up on the internet to find where it is located, but usually you have to get at the motherboard to do so. If there is not a separate little %26quot;door%26quot; you can open, do not try it yourself. Taking apart a laptop is not all that hard if you know what you are doing, but you can easily destroy your laptop if you don%26#039;t. The battery is not even needed for normal operation. It is only used to keep the computer%26#039;s clock accurate if the the regular batter is dead.|||Not sure debby if they are soldier in but I will chek on it and try to get back to yas...*s*
